CDBIA installs new officers

Shan Swelland announced as president of Charlotte-DeSoto Building Industry Association

The Charlotte-DeSoto Building Industry Association has selected its 2026 president and officers, according to a news release.

Shan Swelland was installed as president at a recent ceremony.

“With years of hands-on experience working alongside contractors, builders and industry partners, Shan brings both practical insight and a collaborative spirit to her leadership role,” the news release stated. “Since becoming involved with CDBIA, Shan has been passionate about strengthening relationships within the industry, promoting workforce development, and supporting policies that encourage responsible growth while preserving the unique character of Charlotte and DeSoto counties.”

Swelland is president of Swelland Construction Services.

“He believes that strong communities are built through cooperation-between industry professionals, local government, and residents — and works tirelessly to foster those connections,” it stated. “Shan is especially committed to mentoring future leaders, supporting students and young professionals, and elevating the voices of those who help shape the built environment every day.”

The 2026 CDBIA Executive Committee is: Vice President Jennifer Cirella, Calista Kitchen and Bath; Associate Vice President BillieJo Decker, Decker Plumbing & Drains; Treasurer Chris Hege, Elite Hurricane Protection; Secretary Jess Overcash, Integrity Electric; and Immediate Past President Jaha Cummings, Cummings Commercial Group, according to the news release.

Florida Housing Center Hall of Fame Suzanne Graham, of Massey Services, installed the committee members.

The 2026 CDBIA Board of Directors includes: Builder Directors: Dan Couture, GJC Window & Door; Wyatt Jarvis, Lennar; Kathy Kemeny, Just Counters & Other Stuff; Blair McVety, Charlotte County Seawalls and Colton McVety, Wharton- Smith; Rob Wittmer Straight Line Home Repairs; along with associate directors: Garrett Atkinson, Beane Atkinson Financial; Tim Drumm, Drumm Engineering; Rachael Lowe, TitanZ Plumbing & Air Conditioning; Michelle Miller-Weissenberger, IVA Environmental Services; and Carlene Zeches, Z Interior Decorations, it stated.

They were installed by Florida Home Builders Association 2021-2022 president, TJ Thornberry, of Thornberry Custom Builders.

CDBIA Ex-Officio include: Jim Anderson, Ryan Benson, Odette Embury, Zac Extejt, Jimi Feliciano, Suzanne Graham, Caryn Huff-Sufferling, Rick Ilmberger, Rich Lancette, Cindy Marsh Tichy, Bob Miller, Sharon Neuhofer, Don Riggs, Adam Riley, TJ Thornberry, Bill Truex, Jim Weisberg and John Wiseman, it stated.
